Go beyond the Internet with the TexShare Databases
What are the TexShare databases?
The TexShare databases are free information resources that are available to all Ennis Public Library patrons. If you have internet access, you can use them from your home or work computer. Also, they are available at the library on all the public Internet computers.
TexShare Databases are provided by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Ennis Public Library. Within the TexShare Databases, HeritageQuest Database is made available to Ennis Public Library by a donation from the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas, K.J.Z.T. Society #16 Ennis, TX.
The TexShare databases are a collection of more than 46 electronic databases. Each database is a searchable storehouse of information about every topic under the sun. Think of them as mega search engines that only retrieve the best information: current, accurate and relevant. It's like having a reference library at your computer! Whether you need to find the characteristics of an aardvark for a school paper, search the text of multiple newspapers for the most recent stock quotes, or find current medical information about a health concern, the TexShare databases are your reliable online information sources.
Why do I need the TexShare databases when I have the Internet?
The Internet is a fantastic resource; however, how do you know that what you find on the Internet is really accurate information? How do you know it's safe for children? How do you ensure that when you do a search on the Internet, the information it returns is relevant to what you are seeking? The TexShare databases take care of all of these problems for you. Each TexShare database only contains accurate, verified information that is appropriate for all age groups. When you search using the TexShare databases, the results are relevant to your questions. The TexShare databases don't return page after page of useless links when all you needed was a simple answer. If that wasn't enough, the TexShare databases also contain absolutely no advertisements or pop-up windows.
